If i uninstall and let it reinstall it makes no difference. Will look for an older driver and give it a go. Have you checked that there are no other drivers listed in device manager that have an exclamation mark as they may be associated with the sound issue? Failing that all I can suggest is to go to your PC manufactures website for further information.
